Lauderhill, FL (August 12, 2019) - A man is dead after a collision between a motorcycle and a police vehicle in Martin County. The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10th.
Officers responded to the scene near I-95 in reference to a stolen vehicle. As police spotted the suspected vehicle, they began giving chase. An officer with the Lauderhill Police Department attempted to pull over near mile marker 92 during the chase. As the officer pulled over, a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 47-year-old Robert Alfred Perone clipped the rear fender of the police car. Perone's motorcycle rolled over several times before coming to rest in the grass. Perone died in the crash. The police officer had minor injuries and was taken to Jupiter Medical Center for treatment.
