Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased pedestrian in this Lee County pedestrian crash. Annually, approximately 700 pedestrians will lose their lives in crashes on Florida's streets and highways. This number makes our state one of the most dangerous in the nation for fatal pedestrian accidents. Pedestrians should always follow basic safety precautions, including crossing the street in marked areas or crosswalks and wearing reflective or light-colored clothing when walking at night or in the early morning hours.
