Lighthouse Point, FL (January 24, 2021) - Two people are dead after a rear-end accident in Lighthouse Point on Saturday morning. The accident took place in the 4900 block of North Federal Highway.
The Broward Sheriff's Office responded to the crash scene. According to deputies, a vehicle stopped at an intersection when a second car collided with the back of the first vehicle. The second vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Two people were pronounced dead as a result of the accident but, at this time, it is not clear whether the victims were in the first car or the second car. Their identities have not been released.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. There is no further information available.
For the past several years, Florida has reported more than 3,000 annual fatalities due to traffic accidents on our roadways. A fatal car accident in Florida takes place about once every three hours.
