Manatee County, FL (November 8, 2019) - A deputy with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office was involved in a crash on Tuesday, November 5th. The crash happened on County Road 675 around 4:00 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Jessica Escobar was traveling northbound on Rye Road when she came to a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 675. Escobar failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection where she struck a marked patrol car driven by 37-year-old deputy Sergio Silva. Silva was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Escobar suffered serious injuries. Two passengers in her car, 23-year-old Delmy Escobar and 38-year-old Dinora Alfaro were also seriously injured in the crash.
There is no word at this time on whether charges will be filed.
