Marion County, FL (November 27, 2018) - A crash involving a car and a crane left one person dead. The crash took place in Marion County on Tuesday, November 27th.
Police responded to the intersection of County Road 475 and Southeast 178th Street in reference to the accident. When troopers arrived, they began an investigation into the crash. The investigation revealed that an unidentified female was operating a vehicle when she came to the intersection with CR 475 and Southeast 178th Street. As the woman arrived at the intersection, she pulled in front of a crane. The crane struck the woman's vehicle, leaving her pinned inside.
Rescue workers spent about 30 minutes extricating the woman from the crane. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the crane, 53-year-old Marion Evans told police that he attempted to stop but was unable to do so prior to the collision.
Police continue to investigate and no additional information is available at this time.
