Marion County, FL (July 17, 2021) - One person is dead and four others injured following a three-car crash that took place on Friday night in Marion County. The accident happened around 10:40 p.m. on State Road 40 near SE 197th Terrace Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that two cars were traveling eastbound on SR 40 while another was heading westbound on the same road. One of the eastbound cars tried to pass the other and went into the westbound lanes. The two cars collided head-on before striking the third vehicle that was traveling eastbound. A 17-year-old boy was killed in the accident while three people, including a two-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries. A 55-year-old woman from Deltona driving the other eastbound vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation at this time. There is no word on any charges.
