Martin County, FL (October 30, 2019) - A 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed and four others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that took place on Tuesday, October 29th in Martin County. The crash happened in the 2000 block of Citrus Boulevard near SW Boatramp Avenue.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 6:50 p.m. According to troopers, two motorcycles and a Ford Ranger were traveling westbound on Citrus. A third vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, was traveling eastbound on Citrus. Both motorcycles traveled into the eastbound lanes as they tried to pass a vehicle. One of the motorcycles crashed head-on into the Maxima. One of the motorcycle riders, 55-year-old Teresa Lindenfelser, died at the crash scene. The driver of the second motorcycle suffered critical injuries while the Maxima driver sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Ranger suffered minor injuries along with the passenger of a truck that was involved in the crash.
Troopers are still investigating and no further details are available at this time.
Fatal accidents are reported approximately every three hours in Florida. Sadly, motorcyclists are among those at the highest risk of being involved in serious and fatal crashes due to the lack of protection that a motorcycle offers in the event of a crash with another vehicle. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family of David Brasington during this difficult time.
