Martin County, FL (May 23, 2021) - Two people are dead following a head-on collision early Saturday morning in Martin County. The accident took place just before 1:00 a.m. on SE Bridge Road near Interstate 95.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, a 56-year-old man was driving an SUV on Bridge Road when he was hit head-on by a sedan. Both the driver of the SUV, as well as the driver of the sedan, died at the accident scene. The cause of the crash is not known at this time and the victims have not been identified.
An investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available.
Fatal car accidents in Florida are reported about eight times per day. In 2019, more than 3,000 people tragically lost their lives in crashes on Florida's roadways, making our state one of the most dangerous in the nation for motorists. Head-on accidents produce some of the most dangerous and deadly outcomes of all types of car accidents and are almost always caused by the actions of at least one negligent driver.
