Melbourne, FL (January 8, 2019) - A bicycle crash in Melbourne claimed the life of a 27-year-old man on Tuesday, January 8th. According to reports from the scene, Jason Lenard Vandyne was riding his bike on US 1 near Orange Street just before 1 pm when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 74-year-old William John Cooley. Vandyne was rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Traffic was slowed in both directions near Eau Gaille Boulevard for over an hour while police worked at the scene.
There is no word on how the crash took place. Investigators continue to look into the crash and there is no word on any charges at this time.
