Melbourne, FL (February 6, 2019) – A crash involving a vehicle and a tractor-trailer has claimed the life of one person in Melbourne. Police responded to US 192, near Interstate 95 in reference to the crash around 4:30 am on Tuesday, February 5th.
Investigators said that a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on 192 when it was rear-ended by a Nissan Altima. There were two occupants inside the Altima at the time of impact. The 23-year-old driver of the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene while a 22-year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to Holmes Regional Medical Center. The passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition. Neither of the men have been identified pending family notification. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
