Miami, FL (September 1, 2021) - Three people were killed in a car accident that took place in Miami on Tuesday, August 31st. The accident occurred at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Southwest 92nd Avenue.
According to police, Katrina Diaz, along with her husband and her mother were riding in a gray Kia when they came to the intersection. At the same time, a Range Rover was also approaching the intersection. The Kia attempted to make a turn onto 92nd Avenue when it was T-boned by the Range Rover. Diaz and her two passengers were killed in the crash. The driver of the Range Rover was transported to Kendall Regional Medical for treatment of serious injuries.
The Range Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Police have not identified the driver. An investigation is ongoing.
Deadly accidents are reported in Florida about eight times per day and approximately 3,000 people are killed in our state each year. Car accidents in Miami have many causes, but most are attributable to driver negligence, including speeding or reckless driving.
