Miami, FL (July 5, 2019) - A Miami Dolphins player suffered catastrophic injuries in a two-car crash that took place in Miami on Thursday, July 4th. The crash happened along State Road 836 in the early morning hours.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kendrick Norton, 22, was driving a Ford F-250 on SR 836 when he crashed into a concrete barrier. Also involved in the crash was a grey 2015 Maserati. Norton's girlfriend was a passenger in the vehicle and was also hurt. Norton was taken to the trauma unit at Ryder Memorial Hospital. Rescue workers say that he suffered serious injuries in the crash and that his left arm had to be amputated at the crash scene. He is expected to survive. The Maserati driver suffered minor injuries.
Police are still looking into how the crash took place. A family member told police that Norton's truck was cut off by the Maserati, causing the collision to occur. There is no official word at this time on the circumstances surrounding the incident and no further details have been released.
