Miramar, FL (October 7, 2018) - A crash involving a car and a motorcycle left one person dead. The crash took place on Saturday, October 6th at the intersection of Miramar Parkway and 148th Avenue.
Miramar Fire Department responded to the scene. When rescue officials arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying on the ground suffering from critical injuries. He was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation. The deceased motorcyclist has not been identified.
The area between 145th and 148th Avenue was closed during the crash investigation. There is no further information regarding the accident at this time.
Over 5,000 people were killed in motorcycle accidents in 2015. This is a large number considering that only 3% of registered vehicles are motorcycles. The rate of severe and deadly accidents among motorcycles is much higher than accidents involving passenger and other types of vehicles.
