Monroe County, FL (April 26, 2021) - Officials in Monroe County arrived at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday night. The accident took place along U.S. Highway 1 near Mile Marker 62.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, several vehicles, including a police cruiser, were involved in the collision. Following the accident, several people were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries. At least one person was airlifted with serious injuries. The deputy involved in the crash was not hurt.
U.S. 1 remained closed for several hours while police investigated at the scene. No further information is available at this time. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
