Naples, FL (October 4, 2018) - A motorcycle crash in Naples left a man with critical injuries. The crash happened on Wednesday, October 3rd.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Edgar Puig was riding a motorcycle on Georgia Avenue at Warren Street. His motorcycle was struck by a Ford Fusion traveling on Warren Street. According to reports, the driver of the Fusion apparently came to a stop sign but still drove into the path of the motorcycle. The car's front side struck the left side of the motorcycle.
Puig suffered critical injuries. The driver of the car was not hurt. Charges are pending.
In 2015, over 9,000 people were injured as a result of motorcycle accidents in Florida. This number is very high, considering that less than 1% of all registered vehicles are motorcycles. At Rubenstein Law, we know how serious a motorcycle accident can be.
It appears in this accident that driver of the Fusion is legally responsible because they failed to yield to the motorcycle. Failing to yield the right of way is a common negligent driving behavior that leads to accidents in our state. Such negligence would entitle Edgar Puig to bring a personal injury claim.
