New Port Richey, FL (June 2, 2021) - A driver was killed after a car ran a red light at an intersection in New Port Richey on Wednesday. The accident took place around 7:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 19 near the intersection with Main Street.
According to police, a black Scion was traveling southbound on U.S. 19 and was preparing to make a left turn onto Main Street. As the Scion reached the intersection, another vehicle was traveling northbound and ran a red light. The two cars collided at the intersection. The Scion driver died at the scene while the other driver sustained minor injuries. The identities of those involved were not immediately released. Police are investigating the crash and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
