North Miami Beach, FL (February 3, 2019) - A bicyclist has been hospitalized following a collision with a vehicle in North Miami Beach. The crash took place just after 6:30 pm on Saturday, February 2nd.
The North Miami Beach Police along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were called to the scene in the 1400 block of Northeast 163rd Street. When police arrived on the scene, they located a bicyclist suffering from injuries. Nearby was a two-door car with a cracked windshield. At this time, it is not clear how the accident took place. The injured bicyclist was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. There is no update on the bicyclist's identity or condition at this time. Both the car and the bicycle were taken from the scene by investigators.
In 2012, there were a total of 726 bicycle fatalities in the country. Of those, 112 of the fatal accidents occurred in Florida. In addition, several more people were injured. While bicycle riding can be a fun outdoor activity, it is not without dangers.
