Orange County, FL (September 10, 2021) - A 53-year-old man was killed in a car accident that took place in Orange County on Friday, September 10th. The accident happened around 9:40 a.m. on Avalon Road and the intersection with New Independence Parkway.
Police say that a 63-year-old SUV driver was stopped at a stop sign on New Independence. At the same time, the 53-year-old pickup driver was traveling southbound on Avalon. The SUV pulled out into the intersection and struck the left front side of the pickup truck. Both vehicles rolled over before coming to rest. The pickup truck driver died at the crash scene. He has not been identified at this time. The other driver sustained minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation at this time. No additional information is available at this time.
Fatal car accidents in Florida happen about once every three hours. Sadly, more than 3,000 people were killed in Florida car accidents in 2019 and some of these fatal crashes occurred in Orange County. A substantial number of these victims were killed due to the actions of negligent drivers. Police will continue to investigate this collision to determine the cause.
