Orange County, FL (January 1, 2020) - A 65-year-old man is dead following a motorcycle crash on New Year's Eve in Orange County. The crash was reported around 11:45 a.m. on Curry Ford Road at the intersection with Arbor View Boulevard.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to reports, a 75-year-old woman was driving a Kia South on Arbor View. The woman attempted to make a left turn onto Curry Ford but failed to see an oncoming Kawasaki motorcycle that was traveling southbound. The Kia collided with the motorcycle, ejecting the 65-year-old rider. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Advent Health East where he later died from his injuries. The Kia driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Troopers are investigating the accident and there is no word on charges at this time.
Approximately 600 motorcyclists lose their lives each year in Florida motorcycle crashes. In addition, there will be thousands more that suffer injuries in reportable crashes throughout our state. Motorcycles are a common form of transportation on our streets and highway and many motorcyclists enjoy riding as a hobby. While motorcycles can certainly be enjoyable, a motorcycle accident can occur on a moment's notice and can cause catastrophic damage, including death.
