Orange County, FL (August 31, 2019) - A deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Office suffered a broken arm and leg, as well as a head injury in a crash that took place on Thursday, August 29th. The accident happened on South Apopka Vineland Road, near Conroy Windermere Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to troopers, a deputy arrived on the scene to investigate a reported crash. As the deputy got out of his patrol car, he was struck by a 2007 Ford Focus. The deputy was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital to undergo surgery. The deputy has been identified only as a 29-year-old male. He is expected to recover. The driver of the Focus, a 30-year-old woman from Orlando, remained on the scene following the crash. Charges are expected to be filed.
Police say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
