Orange County, FL (August 27, 2021) - Police in Orange County responded to the scene of a deadly accident on Thursday night. The crash was reported around 7:55 p.m. on Colonial Drive at the intersection with Parry Lane.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV was traveling eastbound on Colonial. The driver tried to change lanes but lost control and veered into a ditch. The car overturned in the ditch. The driver died at the scene. A 17-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and seriously injured. Police have not identified the victims. It is unclear whether speed or alcohol played a role in the collision.
Police are investigating at this time. No further details are available.
According to statistics published by NHTSA, a Florida car accident happens somewhere in our state about every 92 seconds and a fatal crash occurs about once every three hours.
