Orange County, FL - One Killed, Three Hurt in Crash at Lake Pickett Rd, Victim Identified

Orange County, FL (September 10, 2019) - One man was killed and another was hurt in a head-on crash that occurred in Orange County on Monday, September 9th. The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Pickett Road and Tanner Road.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol report that a 2016 Dodge was traveling westbound when it tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The car then collided head-on with a pickup truck in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the car, Sergio Torres, died at the scene of the accident. Three occupants in the pickup truck sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.

Orlando, FL - FHP Trooper Killed in Crash Early Friday
A trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol was killed in a crash on State Road 408. The crash happened on Friday, September 27th around 6:00 a.m.
Authorities report that Trooper Tracy Vickers, 31, was driving his marked patrol car eastbound on SR 408 when he crashed into a truck that was carrying construction equipment. Vickers suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead. Vickers had been a trooper for four years and, prior to his service on the FHP, had served in the US Navy.
St. Petersburg, FL - Two Suffer Serious Injuries in Crash Involving Car and Motorcycle
The St. Petersburg Police were on the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Saturday, February 9th. The incident happened around 1:50 pm at the intersection of Hanes Road and 19th Street North.
According to officers, 63-year-old David Rankin and 60-year-old Allegro Rankin were riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Hanes when their bike collided with a 2014 Lexus GS350 driven by 20-year-old Joseph Zopf, II. A subsequent police investigation revealed that Zopf failed to yield at a stop sign in the before proceeding into the intersection and striking the motorcycle.
