Osceola County, FL (August 23, 2019) - A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a crash on the Florida Turnpike. The crash happened on Friday, August 23rd, around 6:00 a.m.
Police report that 45-year-old Gerson De Silva Giotto was driving a GMC SUV that collided with a tractor-trailer driven by 62-year-old Carlos Acevedo, of Tampa. 41-year-old Leah Giotto, a passenger in the SUV, died in the crash. Also involved were 71-year-old Liode De Silva Giotto and 45-year-old Gerson De Silva Giotto. Both Liode and Gerson suffered serious injuries and were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medica Center. There is no further word on their conditions at this time.
The crash closed all of the southbound lanes until about 11:00 a.m. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
