Osceola County, FL (April 3, 2021) - An 11-year-old girl was killed in a crash involving a street racing vehicle on Friday night in Osceola County. The collision happened around 11:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 192 near Secret Lake Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Dodge Charger and a Kia Optima were involved in a street race along U.S. 192 when the Charger crashed into the back of a Toyota Rav4. The Charger then struck a speed limit sign and came to rest while the Toyota traveled into the median and struck a sign. An 11-year-old girl inside the Charger was killed in the crash. The Charger driver sustained minor injuries. A 35-year-old woman driving the Rav4 was taken to the hospital in serious condition while a 23-year-old passenger was listed in critical condition. None of the victims have been identified at this time.
Troopers are investigating the accident and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
Fatal car accidents in Florida take place about once every three hours and approximately eight times per day. Sadly, more than 3,000 people lost their lives in Florida car accidents in 2019 and many of them were hurt in crashes that were not their fault.
