Osceola County, FL (March 6, 2021) - A 62-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash on the John Young Parkway early Saturday. The collision took place around 2:35 a.m.
According to Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old man from Poinciana was traveling northbound when he struck the pedestrian. The man, who was not identified, died at the scene of the crash. The driver was not hurt. There is no word on the events leading up to the accident.
An investigation is ongoing. No further information is available.
According to statistics, approximately two people will lose their lives each day in Florida pedestrian accidents. Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable and are far more likely than other accident victims to be seriously hurt or killed in a crash. Many pedestrian accidents in Florida will take place due to the negligence of motorists.
