Palm River, FL (April 5, 2019) - One person died in Palm River after a helicopter made a crash landing on a roadway on Thursday, April 5th. The incident took place on 50th Street, near Palm River Road, around 2:20 p.m.
Police say that the series of events began when a helicopter suffered engine failure, causing it to crash onto the road below. When the helicopter crashed, it landed on top of a pickup that was traveling northbound on 50th Street. The helicopter's rotor blades were spinning at the time it made the crash landing. The blade struck and killed a passenger inside the truck. The deceased passenger was not immediately identified. The operator of the helicopter, which was privately-owned, has also not been identified. There is no word on whether any additional injuries were sustained.
Police are still investigating the crash and no additional details have been released at this time.
