Palm River, FL (April 12, 2021) - A woman from Tampa was killed and another woman suffered critical injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Palm River on Sunday morning. The accident occurred just before 7:00 a.m. along U.S. Highway 41 near Old U.S. 41.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, a 20-year-old Tampa woman was driving the wrong way on U.S. 41 when she collided head-on with a second vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman from Tampa. The 20-year-old woman died at the crash scene while the 21-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The identities of the victims are not known at this time and it is not clear what caused the collision to occur.
An FHP investigation is underway. No further details are available.
