Pasco County, FL (August 26, 2021) - A 57-year-old man died in a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle in Pasco County. The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 19 near the intersection with Bolton Avenue.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the accident scene. According to troopers, a 79-year-old man was driving an SUV southbound on U.S. 19 approaching the intersection with Bolton Avenue. At the same time, the 57-year-old man was traveling northbound on U.S. 19. The SUV driver made a left turn in front of the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died at the scene. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries.
The motorcyclist has not been identified at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected. A crash investigation remains ongoing.
Sadly, more than 500 people are killed in Florida motorcycle accidents each year. Thousands more are injured when they are involved in collisions.
