Pasco County, FL (August 31, 2021) - A man was killed when his disabled vehicle was struck in Pasco County on Monday, August 30th. The accident took place around 11:55 p.m. on U.S. Highway 301 near Chancey Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a pickup truck was traveling northbound on U.S. 301 when it came upon a disabled sedan in the travel lane. The truck hit the sedan from behind and pushed the vehicle onto the shoulder. The sedan then caught fire, trapping the driver inside. The sedan driver, a 23-year-old Tampa man, died at the crash scene. The driver of the pickup, a 28-year-old Georgetown, DE man, sustained minor injuries. Neither driver has been identified at this time.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. There is no word on potential charges at this time.
