Pembroke Park, FL (December 31, 2019) - A fatal pedestrian crash was reported along I-95 in Pembroke Park. The crash took place around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31st.
The Florida Highway Patrol and Broward Sheriff's Office responded to the scene on I-95 near West Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Investigators determined that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway when he was hit by a vehicle. Rescue workers pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He has not been identified at this time. There is no word on the cause of the crash at this time.
Police are still investigating the accident and have not released any additional details at this time.
There are approximately two fatal pedestrian crashes reported in Florida each day. This year alone, approximately 700 people will lose their lives in Florida pedestrian accidents. In addition, thousands more will suffer injuries, many of them severe in nature. Pedestrian accidents, unfortunately, produce severe and catastrophic consequences on a regular basis.
