Pinellas County, FL (January 2, 2020) - Three people were hurt in a crash that took place on Gandy Boulevard. The crash was reported just after 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1st.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol were called to the crash scene. According to reports, Jose Marte, 37, was driving a 2006 Lexus GS300 westbound. Marte was traveling at a high rate of speed and passed a 2004 Audi A5 driven by Angel Torres Molina, 48. As the Lexus overtook the Audi, it caused a sideswipe collision. The Lexus then spun out of control and entered the center median before rolling over several times. Marte was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. Molina and his passenger, 36-year-old Charlene Torres, were taken to Bayfront Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the crash. Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the collision.
