Pinellas County, FL (October 26, 2019) - A trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol suffered injuries in a crash on US 19. The crash happened on Thursday, October 24th around 8:49 p.m.
According to reports, 31-year-old Justin Bloom was driving a marked 2017 Ford Explorer in the inside lanes of the highway. Bloom was traveling at a slow speed as he was assisting with the closure of a construction lane. At the same time, 75-year-old Janet Rankin was driving a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser northbound directly behind Bloom's car. Rankin failed to move over and struck the right rear of the patrol vehicle. Following the crash, both Bloom and Rankin were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rankin was cited with failure to move over.
