Pinellas County, FL (August 5, 2019) - Four cars were involved in a fiery crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge on Sunday, August 4th. The crash happened around 7:40 p.m.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol report that 32-year-old Sarah Lam and 67-year-old Ngung Thi Nguyen were stopped on the northbound shoulder of the roadway after their car ran out of gas. A road ranger vehicle, operated by 29-year-old Adam Lopez, stopped behind their vehicle for help. At the same time, a 2004 Chevy was cut off by a semi-truck, causing the Chevy to veer onto the shoulder and crash into Lopez's car. Lopez's car then crashed into the disabled vehicle. Lam and Lopez's vehicles both caught fire. Lopez, Lam, Nguyen and a passenger in the Chevy were taken to Tampa General Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
