Pinellas Park, FL (October 25, 2019) - A motor scooter rider suffered critical injuries after being struck by a car on US 19. The crash was reported in Pinellas Park on Thursday, October 24th.
The Pinellas Park Police arrived on the scene just after 6:00 a.m. in the 11700 block of the roadway. According to investigators, 44-year-old Shane Banfield was driving a Chevrolet Impala when he collided with the rear end of a motor scooter driven by Diego Alburqueque, 22. Alburqueque was thrown from the scooter, which caught fire after impact. Banfield remained on the scene following the crash while Alburqueque was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Pinellas Park officers are investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call 727-369-7864.
