Pompano Beach, FL (April 13, 2019) - A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a train on Friday, April 12th. The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. on tracks located near South Dixie Highway and Southwest Third Avenue.
The Broward Sheriff's Office and Fire Rescue teams were called to the scene in reference to the collision. When they arrived, they located the victim, who was suffering from serious injuries and later pronounced dead. Police have not identified the victim at this time. Traffic was not affected by the crash. Officers say that the train was owned by Virgin Trains USA from Pompano Beach.
There were occupants aboard the train at the time of the crash but none were injured. No additional details have been provided at this time.
