Putnam County, FL (June 6, 2021) - A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday in Putnam County. The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. along Paradise Lakes Avenue near Palm Way.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Paradise Lakes when the driver fatally struck a pedestrian who was walking in the travel lane. The pedestrian was later identified as a 24-year-old man from Crescent City. He died at the accident scene. The driver fled the scene following the crash.
Troopers are still searching for the suspect at this time. A description of the vehicle was not immediately available. No further information has been released.
Hit-and-run accidents in Florida often lead to the most severe and catastrophic consequences for victims.
