Riverview, FL (March 24, 2021) - Two people suffered serious injuries following a car accident in Riverview on Tuesday night. The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Lake Saint Charles Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old man from Riverview was driving northbound on U.S. 301 with a 31-year-old woman as his passenger. At the same time, an 18-year-old man from Riverview was traveling in the opposite direction on U.S. 301. The 61-year-old man made a left turn against a flashing yellow light. At the same time, the 18-year-old driver entered the intersection under a green light. The two cars collided in the intersection. Both the 31-year-old passenger and 18-year-old driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. There is no word on whether the 61-year-old driver was hurt.
Following an investigation, the 61-year-old was charged with making an improper turn.
