Safety Harbor, FL (June 27, 2019) - Rescue crews and police responded to a two-car crash in Safety Harbor on Wednesday, June 26th. The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. in the 2100 block of Philippe Parkway.
According to police, a 62-year-old man was operating a 2008 Kia Spectra in the southbound lanes of the roadway. The Spectra made a left turn and struck the passenger side of a 2001 Toyota Avalon driven by Brendan Burke, 19, of Clearwater. The Kia then continued to veer off the roadway before colliding with a utility pole. The Kia driver was later pronounced dead from his injuries. He has not been identified, pending notification of his family. Burke suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police are still looking into the accident. At this time, officials say that speed and impairment were not factors in the collision. There is no further information available at this time.
