Sarasota, FL (October 3, 2019) - A 45-year-old man who was killed in a crash on US 41 has been identified. The crash happened on Tuesday, October 1st around 5:00 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 71-year-old Edward Fogarty left a driveway on US 41 near Cass Way when he traveled into the southbound lanes of US 41. Fogarty drove directly into the path of a pickup truck driven by John Gustin. Gustin swerved to avoid a crash but still collided with Fogarty's vehicle. Gustin's truck entered the median before overturning and ejecting him from the vehicle. Gustin was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue workers. Fogarty was not hurt in the crash.
An investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending against Fogarty at this time.
