Sarasota, FL (June 29, 2020) - Two people were killed in a crash that occurred in Sarasota on Saturday, June 27th. The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. on Sidell Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, an SUV was traveling westbound on State Road 72 near Sidell Road when it drifted into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a motorcycle. A 58-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman on the motorcycle were killed in the crash. There is no word on whether anyone in the SUV was hurt. The deceased victims have not been identified at this time.
A traffic homicide investigation is ongoing at this time and charges are pending. No additional information is available.
Fatal accidents take place in Florida multiple times per day. According to current statistics, a fatal traffic accident is reported about once every three hours. Drivers and passengers are constantly at risk of being seriously hurt or killed due to the prevalence of negligent drivers on our roadways.
