On Saturday, a Sebastian police cruiser crashed on CR-512 during a pursuit. Luckily, there were no other vehicles in the crash. The accident happened when the police officer hit some palm trees in a median.
Commander John Blackledge said that the accident happened when a vehicle was being pursued, the officer hit a tree and totaled the vehicle. The pursuit continued on, with the car being chased west into Fellsmere.
They say that the Sebastian police officer is doing fine after the accident, even though they have not yet released his name. Police Chief Michelle Morris says that he only had minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.
They continued to search for the driver that they were casing. He was apprehended by the use of K-9 officers. The suspect was a juvenile.
