The Amtrak train was carrying approximately 100 passengers at the time of the crash. None of them, however, suffered any injuries. Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol were called to the scene to investigate the incident.
At this time, there is no word on what caused the collision to occur. The pedestrian has not been identified by police. No additional information is available.
When we think of pedestrian accidents, we typically think of cars striking the pedestrian. However, pedestrians can also be injured by other vehicles, including trains. Police will conduct a full investigation and will focus on several factors, including where the pedestrian was struck and whether reasonable measures could have been taken to avoid the collision.
Pedestrian accident cases can be very complicated and require an experienced attorney in matters of disputed liability. An accident reconstruction expert may also be needed in order to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crash.
