A motorist’s cell phone was stolen in a smash-and-grab attack on the N1 Freeway. As a result, the motorist chased after the suspects. The suspects then tried to push the motorist off the road before Gordon Road and lost control of their own vehicle. They then crashed into the victim’s vehicle and ended up on the embankment.
The suspects, who were then injured, fled the scene and ran into a residential area. A manhunt began, but a huge thunderstorm rolled through and the search had to be called off. Two local residents later found one of the suspects hiding in a veld and detained him until police arrived. He had injuries to his head and face.
