St. Augustine, FL (January 30, 2019) - A couple was hurt when they were hit by a driver while walking along a sidewalk in St. Augustine on Tuesday, January 29th.
Police say that 29-year-old Justin Lee Edwards was pulling out of a parking lot when he lost control of his truck. The truck veered off the roadway and crashed into a man and woman who were walking on a sidewalk. The couple was forced through a concrete wall and into a fence by the force of the collision. A woman suffered severe injuries, including two broken legs. The man sustained a leg wound and a neck injury. Both victims were airlifted to Orange Park Medical Center. They have not been identified at this time.
After an investigation, Edwards was arrested and charged with driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury and reckless driving. He was booked into jail under a $56,000 bond.
