St. Johns County, FL (February 5, 2019) - A 57-year-old man is dead following a crash that took place on US 1 in St Johns County. The accident took place on Monday, February 4th, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to troopers, a Lincoln SUV was traveling northbound around 6:40 pm when it collided with a Ford Ranger. The Ranger was attempting to make a left turn onto Stokes Landing Road when the collision occurred. The driver of the pickup, identified as Desmond Oesterreicher, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, Grace King, was taken by ambulance to Baptist South Hospital. King was seriously injured in the collision.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for an extended period of time while police investigated and cleared the roadway.
