Starke, FL (April 12, 2021) - A man was killed and two others sustained serious injuries following a two-car accident in Starke on Sunday morning. The crash happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. on State Road 16 near Northwest 177th Street.
According to troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol, a 58-year-old man was driving a pickup truck westbound on S.R. 16. The pickup truck was traveling directly behind a sedan. As the sedan slowed to make a left turn on Northwest 177th Street, the pickup failed to slow down and collided with the back of the sedan. The truck then veered across the eastbound lanes of S.R. 16 before overturning in a ditch. The sedan came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.
A 58-year-old passenger in the pickup died at the accident scene while a 32-yer-old woman and 51-year-old man in the sedan sustained minor injuries. The 40-year-old female driver of the pickup was not hurt.
An investigation into the crash continues.
