Sumter County, FL (February 10, 2020) - A 21-year-old woman was killed in a crash that took place in Sumter County on Sunday, February 9th. The crash was reported around 4:00 a.m. along Jasper Street near the intersection with East Noble Avenue.
According to reports, Alexes Olivia Matthews was a passenger in a 2013 Chevy Cruze that was traveling westbound when it approached the intersection with Jasper and East Noble. The driver of the Cruze lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the shoulder. The car then re-entered the roadway before spinning out of control again, veering off and striking a tree. The vehicle rolled over after the crash. Matthews was ejected in the rollover. Rescue workers pronounced her dead at the crash scene. The other two passengers were transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.
There is no word on the cause of the crash. No further information is available at this time.
