Tampa, FL (May 12, 2019) - A wrong-way crash on US-301 left one person dead and another seriously injured on Sunday, May 12th. The crash happened at Bishop Road, near Sun City.
According to authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Rene Vasquez was operating a vehicle in a northbound direction while traveling in the southbound lanes of US-301. As he traveled northbound, Vasquez collided head-on with a second vehicle that was moving southbound. Vasquez was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver of the second vehicle was rushed to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. That driver has not been identified by authorities.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
