Tampa, FL (September 15, 2018) - A pedestrian was killed in an accident on US 301 on Friday, September 14th.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Rhonda Darlene Reel was walking along the roadway just after 8:00 pm. At that time, a truck driven by 21 year old Justin Larry struck her as he drove past. It is believed that one of Larry's side mirrors struck Reel. She later died from injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
Troopers say that alcohol was not a factor in this crash and that Larry remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. Charges are pending against the driver.
It is not clear what caused the truck to strike the pedestrian in this accident. Pedestrian accidents occur for a variety of reasons. When the pedestrian is not at fault, the accident is usually caused by some kind of driver inattention. We will have to wait and see exactly what caused Justin Larry to leave the road and strike Rhonda Reel. Reel's family will consider bringing a wrongful death claim against Larry for his negligence leading to this accident.
