Titusville, FL (November 27, 2019) - Four people were killed in a crash involving a semi-trailer in Titusville. The crash was reported around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26th.
The Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to the crash scene in the southbound lanes of I-95. Reports from the scene indicate that a pickup truck collided with the trailer, which was hauling cars at the time of the collision. Police believe that the crash took place when a rear axle of the truck broke off, causing it to travel into the path of the semi-trailer. All four deceased victims are residents of Fort Pierce and all of them were inside the pickup truck at the time of the crash. The identities of the victims have not been released pending next-of-kin notification.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Fatal accidents take place multiple times per day in Florida. Serious and deadly crashes occur for many reasons, including driver error as well as vehicle malfunction. In this crash, it appears as though some sort of malfunction took place, causing the driver of the truck to lose control of the vehicle and collided with the semi-trailer. Further investigation will be needed to determine exactly what caused the accident to occur.
